The stone Peridot has been mined as far back as the ancient Greeks.
It is the birthstone of August. Color is its most important quality.
It can range from yellow green to chartreuse. The stones have good
clarity and the light sparkles through them. This makes them good
for faceted cuts. In the middle ages it was used to cure liver disease
