This 9mm garnet is mounted in a gold filled snapset and
the ring is made of 14K gold filled wire. The finished
ring is size 6 and was made for our beloved Janice.

The name garnet probably comes from the latin word
granatus for pomegranate because the crystals embedded
in rock had the color and shape of pomegranate seeds.
Garnet is the birthstone for January. Does that mean
that only people born in january can wear them? I guess not.
Garnets have long been carried by travellers to protect
against accidents far from home. Garnets in legend light
up the night. Noah used a garnet lantern to navigate the
Ark at night.
